Newsletter - April 2011

Welcome to the April 2011 edition of the Newsletter - a shortish one this time - more of a kind of catch-up and to say that I am still here.

It certainly has been a long, cold winter, beset with sadness, since I lost my father just before Christmas.

Spring has finally arrived and it is time to peep out and start communicating again.

I look forward now to a year in my new studio and accompanying Open Days, the first of which is this weekend.

Artists' Fair and Open Weekend - 30th April & 1st May 10am to 4pm

Spring Fling Open Studio Event 28th to 30th May

I have been selected again for Spring Fling - www.spring-fling.com - Dumfries and Galloway's open studio event at the end of May. This will be my fourth year running so I am excited about taking part.

The event takes place from Saturday 28th May until Monday 30th May from 10.30am to 5.30pm daily, with later opening until 7pm on the Saturday.

This year I will be based in my new studio in Kirkcudbright. Studio 16 on the "South" route.

A copy of the current Spring Fling brochure (2011) is available for download (PDF 30mb)

More news of this event to follow next month, including special offers for "Friends" of Spring Fling.

Collaboration with Kate Anderson

Slowly, slowly, I have been carrying on working. An interesting and challenging diversion has been a collaboration with local mosaic artist, Kate Anderson, on a private commission.

The whole process was quite exciting and enlightening as we worked together to interpret our client's brief.

Kate's work is deeply imaginative, striking and thought-provoking, and it was a good experience to spend time with her in the making of the piece.

Visit her website at www.andersonart.co.uk

She is also taking part in Spring Fling again this year - Studio 22

Finally

I am sorry there is no video or print this time. I mean to resume that tradition soon, but it might take me a month or two to get back into the swing of regular newsletters.

Thank you for your patience.
